Good luck with the challenge - deadline for entries is Sunday 6 January at 12noon GMT.

Ruth:  I've gone with a firm favourite of mine from the Paper Boutique Vol 3 cd - the pink cupcake!!  I've printed it off as A5 size, cut out all the elements and then layered up with foam pads.  I've added die cut stars from pearlescent brown card, some ribbon I found in my stash.  The 30 are die cuts from sparkly card and I've added wire so that they boing about.  The star I've glittered around the edge (and on the cupcake too) and added a dotted line of liquid pearls around the inner.

Shell:  For my card this week I have used a twist on the challenge and I have used the 2013 part of the challenge, 1 image, 2 papers and the number 3. The card is for my Nephew's 3rd Birthday card in February. I have used the cute little bunny from the brand new Cherry Blossom CD and have coloured him with my copics, I then simply added a few buttons form my stash to complete the card.

JAN:  I have a really clean and simple card this week - it took about 15 minutes to make which is great as time is so precious at this time of year. I used paper from the 'Pen & Paper Circle 3' CD and the star template can be found on the 'Sundae of Seasons' CD. A little mirri card die cut border and a 'Happy New Year' greeting printed on my computer to finish. Happy New Year everyone!

Lucy ~ For this theme I decided to do a journal page using Polkadoodle papers, image and stamps. The heart sentiment is so cute and I wanted to focus on the 'Happy' part of the theme. I tore bits of PD dotty paper and glued them to the page after painting it. Then used ink sprays over the top. I coloured the image with Pro Markers. The stamps are from the Flutterfly fairies sets.

Anjie For this weeks challenge I've done a digital scrapbook page. All the elements are from the fabulous Picknix Collection 2 CD from Studio 12. I've put it all together in a craft program. I've added shadows to some of the elements to make it look more 3D. To follow the challenge I've used 1 photo, 2 bows and 3 rolling pins.

Clare - For my card I have incorporated Christmas and New Year using images and sentiment from the Here Comes Christmas CD and Studio 12 Picknix 2 Gingerbread Twist CD. The gorgeous red gingham paper is from the new Cherryblossom Lane CD which was launched last week. I have added some Berry Red Doodle Dewdrops and Stickles Glitter Glue to finish off my card.

Anne - I've gone with three of something using the newest release from Nikky,  Cherry Blossom Lane.
This was super quick to do.  I added the border to the paper in my graphics programe before printing it out.  Then printed the tree tags, mounted them and attached to the card using some brads. Following on with the three of something I added three little dew drops to the bottom corner.

Good luck with the challenge and don't forget our rules!  Deadline for entries is 6 January 2013 at 12noon GMT.

Good luck with the challenge - the deadline for entries is Sunday 23 December at 12noon GMT.

Kimberly - Hi there, I've made this card for a young niece of mine. She just loves birds and the outdoors. Super simple card to create. I used image from Candy Doodles COLLECTORS EDITION and papers from the Picknix Collection 1 and Picknix Collection 2, they just went so well together. Added a sentiment from Candy Doodles Collectors Edition and some elements from Picknix Collection 1 and there you have it...super sweet.

Karon - I made this for a friend who is having a birthday this month.  I used the papers from the Studio 12 CD - Picknix Collection2 Gingerbread Twist .  The sentiment "Like a snowflake..." is also from this CD, which I merged into some of the backing paper using Word.  The main papers are backed with some from my stash.  I inked all the edges of the layers and popped up the main sentiment on some foam tape. Added some tulle fabric and a snowflake to finish off.

Karen - I don't know anyone with a birthday around Christmas time, so I made a card suitable for a young adult.  The image and BP are from the Sugar Plum Daisy CD. (the sentiment is computer generated).

Asha - I made this card for a good friend whose birthday is on the 23rd and who, like me, has a sweet tooth. What better excuse to use the pre-coloured gingerbread man image and patterned paper from the PickNix Gingerbread Twist CD. I did not go out of my way to ignore all things Christmassy simply because she is a huge fan the season. Lace, twine and brads are from my stash.

Astrid - Its my mother's birthday today and I made this card for her. The paper I used is from the CD
Sundae of Seasons. Also on this CD the cake and the banners.
In the corners I used the dies from Joy Craft and also on the middle of the card.
The ribbon comes from my own collection. A few pearls in Christmas colour and the card is done.

Sally - Here is my Young Adult - Cool Yule Card - I used an image from the Pretty Tuff CD Rom
coloured him with Promarkers, printed out a fence and skateboard matted him on a snowflake
background, cut out a frame using Spellbinders label in black cardstock then matted the frame on a dotty background paper and matted that on black cardstock.

Miria  I made a quick and easy tag for a winter birthday; I used some recycled corrugated cardboard I dabbed with white acrylic. The image and sentiment are from cd Magical Winter 2, I just added some embossing, pearls, button, pompom and a clip.

Monica For a young adult and a man, less is more, I think. So, with this idea I made this card using two papers from CD Picknix 2 (the red one in the big star, and the blue one in the small star). I used some strings for cross stitch (those ones with six strings on it). I wrote with my own handwriting "Happy Birthday Wishes". But when I almost have done... it was missing something for me. So I went through my things and I found a cork and it fit perfectly. Nothing more masculine to embellish my card. Have a nice challenge all of you. xxx :-)

Alethea: I made a card for a young adult using the Hoot Download Bundle. I didn't make it for anyone in particular when I first started it but as it came together I thought I'd give it to my friend who is my age but I'd like to think we are still young adults!! :) . So the Owl, the sentiment banner, the striped banner and the flowers arre all from the Hoot Download Bundle. I then just added the rhinestones and buttons and to finish off the card added some sparkle.

Fliss: My card this week is for one of my nieces as her birthday is on New Year's Eve and she loves quilting so I decided on a sewing theme using elements and papers from the Sundae of Seasons CD. I die cut the sewing machine topper and sentiment and made a collage style creation which I know she'll like as she's very artistic.

Fabulous inspiration I'm sure you'll agree and you have until 12 noon on Sunday 23 December to enter and not miss out on those fantastic prizes. Good luck!

Week 49 - Paper Piecing with Newspaper

Welcome to a new Polkadoodle challenge!
All the Design Team are busy making samples for Nikky's forthcoming Create and Craft Show on tv on 14 December.  We all love the designs and once again Nikky has pulled a cracker out of the bag!  I really can't say any more but you'll LOVE it!!!  So don't forget to tune in at 10am and 4pm next Friday - 14 December - you MUST set your tv to record! Also, the team wanted to let you all know that the brand new Digistore is now open  so if you haven't check it out yet make sure you do!

There have always been downloads in the Polkadoodles shop (old store is here) but there is now a dedicated application where your downloads are now released to you IMMEDIATELY - no more waiting for your orders to be dispatched!

This is just one of the gorgeous digi collection bundles which you can order NOW here....

Nikky and team are now constantly uploading new bundles of stunning paper collections, digistamps, embellies, flowers, borders, ribbons - the list is endless and is constantly growing!! A lot of this content is from existing CD collections so if you're not sure if you want to purchase the whole CD, this is a great way to have a taster! (each product will state which CD it comes from). There are also some new elements in the mixes too so there is still new content along with brand new papers and elements bundles - and they are all being remastered into PNG format (papers are JPG) so you can now manipulate these digi elements as you wish in your own graphics software.

Also check out the brand new Easy Peasies...a collection of pre-designed cards which are ready done for you - just print them out and glue them to the front of a card blank then embellish to get some hybrid crafting going on - EASY PEASY!! These have been mega popular in the shop the last couple of weeks so make sure you check them out.  As new CD Collections are released they will also be added to the shop whether Polkadoodles or Studio 12 collections, so make sure you check back regularly to get a little Digi Sugar!!

Good luck with the challenge - deadline for entries is Sunday 16 December at 12noon GMT.

Ruth:  I've used all paper based elements from Studio 12 Vol 1 Picknix collection - the only added bits are the half pearls and the 'newspaper' which is actually from a 1935 car magazine!  I've paper pieced the main image and then inked it before raising it and the tape measure with silicone glue.  I've added a faux stitch around the edge of the card and its finished!

Lucy ~ I have never done anything like paper Piecing before, so I kept it simple for my first attempt! I used my mums patchwork stencils to cut out the shapes from the papers. The papers are from the Pretty Sweet CD Rom. The stamps are from the Flutterfly fairies.

Anjie For this weeks card I have used an image and papers from the Pen and Paper Circle Club issue 4. The clothes, shoes, hairband, table cloth and bowl on the image are done by stamping the image onto the different papers and then cut out and stuck onto the image stamped onto white card. The skin and hair are coloured with ProMarkers. I've added an embossed dotty panel to match the dotty papers. The doily behind the image is done using the Marianne D designer doily die and the flowers are from the Marianne D die LR0162. I've done some faux stitching around the edge and added a ribbon bow.

JAN:  I made a Tag this week for my DT project and decided to use up some scraps of paper that were left over from other projects.  The little owl is printed from the Sugar Birdies CD and I have paper-pieced his tummy with some newspaper and added two funky googly eyes.  The sentiment is from the Candy Doodles CD, along with the flowers - I cut the large one from pieces of leftover papers and the two smaller ones from newspaper, adding little co-ordinating button centres.  A couple of ink splats, a bit of polkadot ribbon and some pearl accents to finish.

Eva - I have decorated lollipop for this challenge. I used Crafts Too dies, a Stampin Up punch and added some stick on jewels, glittery card stock and ribbon. The cute cupcake image, the polka dot paper and the little stars  (cut them out from the cupcake image but in larger format) are from the Paper Boutique 3 CD.

Anne I've made a little wall hanging this week instead of a card  . This little cutie is from the Gingerbread Twist CD  and the papers are from the Pen and Paper kit 1. Coloured with copics and newspaper to paper piece part of her outfit. I then cut some snowflakes and hung them from the bottom with a few beads for added decoration

Clare - For my card I have used the gorgeous Fairy Flutterfly, Meeshelle stamp set and I have paper pieced her, the stunning butterflies and flowers with papers and the sentiment from the very girly Pretty Sweet CD. I have embellished my card with vanilla Doodle Dew Drops and Diamond Stickles.

Good luck with the challenge and please remember our rules - deadline for entries is Sunday 16 December at 12noon GMT.

Kimberly: Oh I had such fun with this cd...it's Pretty Tuff and just perfect for all those little boys you need to create for. I was a little pressed for time so I chose a coloured picture. It printed out perfectly and added these adorable papers that came in the same CD. Added some Candi and some faux stitching. Super simple card..

Norine:  I needed to make a "Sorry-for-what-you're-going-through" card this week, and this sentiment from the Sugar Plum Daisy cd and papers from the Paper Boutique Projects cd seemed perfect!  I printed the sentiment three times on different patterned papers, cut them out and then pop-dotted them for some extra dimension.  The die cut embellishment is from Marianne's.

Fliss: I'm still making Christmas cards and this is one of the specials for my relatives using elements from the Here Comes Christmas CD with a vintage twist. I also flipped the sketch so Mr Snowman would be facing the right way! I coloured the gorgeous snowman (he's my fave of Nikky's so far) with Aquamarkers and was very pleased with his scarf which I made look woolly with squiggly lines and dots using the fine end. I distressed the edges of the papers with an emery board and added Vintage Photo Distress ink. I then made a hand cut icicle border using white embossing powder, glitter glue, a lilac Promarker and a snow writer.

Karon: It was my daughter's 14th Birthday on the 29th Nov - so I decided to make a card using the sketch provided.  For the main polka dot layer, the frame and tailor's dummy image, I used All Sewn Up from Picknix Collection 1 CD, I merged the three elements together in Word.  Also the same for the "You are sew sweet" sentiment and the layer for that too.  I inked all my edges of all my layers.  The dress is a little bit of wide ribbon in yellow and then a little bit more ribbon for the tie in the middle. I popped up the two front layers with foam squares.

Asha: I'm not done with my Christmas cards. This week I've picked papers and a cute image from the PickNix Gingerbread Twist CD. I coloured the gingerbread dolly with alcohol markers and fussy cut her before popping her up on some foam tape. That gorgeous poinsettia bloom is the work of Marianne Creatables Poinsettia die (LR122). To finish: thin gingham ribbon, brad and red glitter from my stash. A stress free and easy peasy card to make!

Sally - Hi there, this weeks challenge is The Sketch Challenge. So I chose a snowman image from Picknix 2 CD Rom and a backing paper. I matted and layerd the papers with red cardstock  for the background and for the rectangle. Cut an oval and embossed it with my dotty folder and distressed the edges. Stamped and cut out a sentiment, tied some snowflake ribbon around the base card, added a bow and snowflake and a little red button.

Astrid - I have used an image from the CD Collection Sundae of Seasons and coloured it with copic markers. Some stickles gold on her dress and her scarf. The paper is from the CD Picknix 2. I have cut the flowers on the paper off and added them at the top with a piece of knotted string. I used a die from Marianne Design for the flower and behind the image. And on the flower I added a pompom.

Monica - Hello people, I´m so glad to be here with my opening post at Polka Doodles blog, and for this I made a Christmas card using images from the CD Picknix 2 (the red paper on the bottom). I used a digistamp as a template to make my Santa Claus, who also came from CD Picknix 2. I wrote "Merry Christmas" with my own handwriting and with a ink pen. And to complete the design, I used some ribbons and a little pieces of string (that usually is used to make crochet) and made a lot of laces to embellish my card. I really hope you enjoy the card, because I had a lot of fun doing it. :-) Have a nice week. xxx Mon

Miria I used non traditional colours for my Christmas card; the stampie, papers and tickets are from Here Comes Christmas CD.  I die cut the nestie for the image and created faux stitching with a white gel pen; I added a ribbon and just two half-pearls.

Valou250809: For my card I used the " Winter " collection from the " Sundae of Seasons "CD. All the papers are stitched with my sewing machine. Under the image, I added a die-cut doily. For the decoration, I added bows made using the satin ribbon, some stick pin pearls, a big red rose, gems and lace. For some sparkle, I added some touches of Stickles glitter glue.

Alethea: I had lots of fun making my card this week!! I used papers from the Welcome Home and Heavenly Garden collections from the Picknix first CD and some from  CD Picnix 2. The house and the fence and sentiment are also from Welcome Home. I used the already coloured images as I'm loving experimenting with all the digital images!! I added glitter glue around the houses, added some flowers along the fence, a few rhinestones and made some shrinky dink butterflies. I wanted the fence to open so cut some slits in and  threaded the ribbon through. I just love the way it turned out.

Fabi - I've used images and papers from the Sundae Of Seasons CD, all layered up with a pretty doily, some distressed  and then decorated with some lovely flowers and foliage dusted with a little faux snow.

Patty - Here's my card for this week - I have used the sketch and sometimes I get a block when using a sketch but this was not the case with this one.  I used girl image from Pretty Sweet CD and the green paper is fom PPC5. I like very much the green & blue combination even for girls as it is so soft and sweet at the same time. I liked this girl from the first time I set eyes on the CD images, she looked so different laying on her back is like she is making exercise but not really. A hello card was perfect for this.

Lidia - I've made a Christmas card with the lovely sketch and all the elements and papers on my card are from the Here Comes Christmas CD. I used one of the lovely toppers and embellished my creation with some pretty snowflakes adding some star shaped gems and finished off with a button tied with string.

So there you have it - a gorgeous array of samples to inspire you so hoping to see you enter. You have until 12 noon on Sunday 9 December to link up your creations and good luck!

Before you go, just have a look at the stunning Design Team samples!!

Ruth:  I've used papers from Here Comes Christmas cd (you can just about see them!) plus I've cut out some Poinsettia's from the cd too.  I've used my fresh out of the packet Marianne Creatables Poinsetta die and using some red card from my stash.  I've cheated slightly and made leaves with green card!  I've handwritten the sentiments which are on Sizzix scallop tag dies and then added some ribbon from my stash.  And the best bit - the card actually stands up!  Result!

Karen - I used the Picknix 2 CD for  the image, sentiment and BP for this card.  This image is ready coloured, so I just added sparkle.  All the dies used on this card are Mariannes.

Shell-For my card this week I have used the stamps and papers from the PPC5, the image has been coloured using a mix of copics and promarkers. I used some nesties to make the frame for her to sit on, the flowers are Marianne (LR0163) I then added a few pearls and a little lace to finish.

Helen - For my card this week I have used images from the Sundae Of Seasons CD ROM. I printed off 3 backing papers, a holly border and a text plate( which I added the text to). For the main image I combined the tree background with the snowman and put a little reindeer hiding in the trees. The dies I used are Marianne Icicle border and snowflake. I added glitter and pearls to finish off the project.

Anjie - For my card I have used an image, papers and embellishments from the Sundae Of Seasons CD. The image is coloured with ProMarkers. The doily is the Marianne D Designer Doily, the butterfly is the Marianne die CR1205 and the flowers are from the Marianne die LR0107. I've added Doodle Dewdrops to the centre of the flowers and some bling on the butterfly.

NJ I have used Sundae of Seasons for my card this time. I inked all the edges with distress ink, and die cut using Marianne design dies LR0131 and LR0118. I love buttons too so couldn't resist finishing off with them!

Anne  - I've used papers  from the Pen & Paper kit 3, this gorgeous girlie is from  the Candy Doodles cd and the sentiment is from Sugar Plum Daisy.

JAN:  I decided to wrap a present and make a gift tag this week, using papers from the 'Paper Boutique Vol II CD' and a little sentiment from the 'Here Comes Christmas CD'.  I used the little swirl die from the Marianne LRO108 Flowers set and cut it eight times adding it to the shaped tag.

Eva - I have made a shaped card using a cute snowman image and papers from Sundae of Seasons. The sentiment is from Picknix 2 - Gingerbread Twist. I used dies from Crafts Too and a Christmas Tree die from Marianne's CR1227. Used a Magnolia die for the fence, some sparkly ribbon and mini hat pins. Added lots of glitter, roses and mini snowflakes too.

Claire - I've made a little paper gift bag using a single sheet of A4 paper (tutorial on my blog). The gorgeous papers and image are from the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 2 - Gingerbread Twist and I've used a snowflake die from Marianne Designs LR0125

Clare - For this weeks challenge I have made a circle easel card. The gorgeous paper's are from Studio 12 Picknix Collection "Gingerbread Twist" CD, the cute image is from Sundae of Seasons CD and the sentiment is from the Here Comes Christmas CD. The poinsettia die is by Marianne Designs. I have used Turquoise Doodle Dewdrops for the centres of the poinsettia's and covered the petals with diamond Stickles.

Kitty - This week i decided to create a winter scene card with my favourite animals - penguins of course! The papers and images are all from the Here Comes Christmas CD. I also used Cheery Lynn Snowflakes die and Dienamics Snow Drifts (altho you can't see them!). I also added lots of Stickles Glitter to the trees and snow.

Good luck with the challenge and please remember our rules - deadline for entries is Sunday 2 December at 12noon GMT.
